Szymon Aleksander Piotrowski – 5zym – is a Polish musician, music producer, sound engineer and academic teacher. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Vibroacoustics and Sound Engineering of the AGH University of Science and Technology and has a postgraduate degree in Music Recording and Production from Stavanger University in Norway and POLONUM in Berlin.

In 2014, he won a gold award in the „Traditional Studio Recording” category in a recording competition organized by the Audio Engineering Society. He composed original music for Jeremy Collins; animation called „The Wild Inside” and did post-production of sound for many video projects at the Banff Center for Arts and Creativity in Canada. He recorded a lot of albums and
singles as an instrumentalist, producer and engineer, including productions released by Universal Music Polska, AudioCave, NORCD (Nor), ALFA (It), ONIONWAVE and Lynx Music.

From 2006 to 2023, he ran his own Psychosound studio in Kraków. He was a lecturer of recording and music production at AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków, Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology in Warsaw, as well as at Krakow School of Jazz and Contemporary Music.

He is a co-founder and the president of the „Learn How To Sound Foundation” (2016). He is the co-author of an educational book for children about the sound called „Hello! Here’s the sound!”.
